Project for US-based hedge fund. The firm invests in multiple asset classes and strategies, namely long/short equity, systematic, global macro, and venture capital.

We're looking for talented engineers for a highly visible and impactful internal product.
In this role the engineer will be involved in developing current Tax platform.
The Finance team provides a broad range of timely, accurate, relevant, and objective financial information, advice, and services to its business partners, while adhering to the highest professional and ethical standards. Finance Technology Business Management team is a dynamic group responsible for all aspects of financial reporting and analysis for the Technology organization.
This is a hands-on software developer position where you will be expected to balance tactical needs with strategic goals, while keeping a product ownership approach to software development.
This role requires a combination of deep technical expertise, as well as an ability to balance tactical and strategic goals, and a strong sense of ownership over the product being worked on.

Responsibilities

Strong problem solving skills, troubleshoot inquiries and outages

should be able to work under pressure

Participate in the design, implementation, testing and deployment of large-scale systems and services

Participate in an Agile / Scrum methodology to deliver software releases

Understand:

system dependencies and limitations

business needs and business area

large scale thinking and approach

low level design

resource-management techniques, how to prevent dangling pointers

inter-process communication design principles

fundamentals of networking

Experience with Continuous Testing and Continuous Delivery

Familiarity with continuous integration tools (Jenkins, TeamCity, Octopus a plus)

Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills; attention to detail, thoroughness and strong ownership of work

Able to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment; Good sense of urgency, resourcefulness and independence

Be a self-starter, chase down blockers, and proactively finish projects in a timely manner.

Skills

Must have

Core Java & collections & multi threading

Experience delivering projects in financial reporting business area

Knowledge of Scala

5+ years of solid Java development with multithreading experience

Working knowledge of AWS

Strong SQL experience

Commitment to the highest ethical standards

Team player

ability to get along with existing team members and learn from them (this is absolutely essential for success)

Ability to work with minimal direction in a self-sufficient manner, often adapting to ever-changing priorities

Focus on accuracy and attention to detail

Nice to have

Experience with financial software (accounting, tax, reporting etc)

Kafka experience
